Our co-founder and chief inspiration officer, Ali Mejia, spends her days balancing design, motherhood, and the everyday wellness practices that keep her going. The busier she gets, the more emphasis she places on slowing down, so it comes as no surprise that her ideal Mother’s Day is simply spent relaxing at home with her family.

MORNING 

Brunch In Bed 

  

There’s nothing more pampering than feeling like I ordered room service from one of my favorite boutique hotels. It also brings me back to childhood memories of El Salvador where I enjoyed Sunday breakfast in bed with my mom. I look forward to spending the day with her and my girls. 

 

 

AFTERNOON 

Relaxing By The Pool 

  

Moms live for those little moments of calm. Putting on some breezy resort wear and heading to the pool helps me mentally disconnect, instantly transporting me into vacation mode. It reenergizes me, gives me focus, and recharges my batteries for whatever lies ahead. 

 

 

Quality me time grounds me in a way that helps me be more present for my family and more empathetic and emotionally supportive to my girls.

 

  

EVENING 

Family Movie Night 

  

I love a cozy backyard movie night watching classic movies with my family. Create a setting enticing enough that they can’t resist and make their favorite snacks and drinks. Of course, no family movie night is complete without matching PJ’s that make it that much more fun. 

 

Recipe

Carrot Cake Pancakes with Labneh Frosting 

A healthier take on dessert for breakfast, Ali’s go-to pancakes and rose latte – adapted from Living Ayurveda – are sure to sweeten up mom’s morning. 

 

Ingredients: Pancakes

2 cups oat flour 

1 tsp. ground cinnamon 

½ tsp. ground nutmeg 

½ tsp. ground ginger 

¼ tsp. salt 

1 cup grated carrot 

1½ cups oat milk 

1 egg 

2 tbsp. maple syrup, plus more for serving 

2 tbsp. orange juice 

1 tbsp. orange zest 

2-3 tbsp. ghee or coconut oil for frying 

     

    Ingredients: Labneh Frosting

    ½ cup organic labneh or plain Greek yogurt 

    1 tbsp. maple syrup 

    1 tsp. orange zest 

    ½ tsp. dried edible rose petals 

     

    Instructions For The Pancakes: In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, spices, and salt. Add grated carrots to the mixture. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, maple syrup, orange juice, and orange zest. Fold the wet mixture into the dry until fully incorporated. 

    Warm a griddle or skillet on medium heat to start. Once hot, reduce to medium-low heat. Melt a dab of ghee or coconut oil, then pour about ¼ cup of batter into the ban for each pancake.  

    Instructions For The Frosting: Combine all ingredien­­­ts in a small bowl and mix them together. Taste and adjust seasonings as desired. 

     

     

     

    Recipe

    Shatavari Rose Latte 

     

    Ingredients

    2 cups organic raw dairy milk or unsweetened oat milk 

    1 tsp. rose water 

    ½ tsp. Shatavari powder 

    ¼ tsp. ground cardamom 

    1-2 tsp. maple syrup 

    ½ tsp. dried edible rose petals for garnish 

     

    Instructions

    In a small saucepan, heat the milk to medium heat just to a boil. Transfer to a high-speed blender and add the rose water, Shatavari, cardamom, and maple syrup. Blend until frothy. Pour into a mug and garnish with cardamom and dried rose petals. Sip hot.
