Which Silk is Washable?
Eberjey, all of our silk pieces are washable. This makes our entire collection of luxurious sleepwear sustainable, biodegradable, hypoallergenic, and machine washable.

What is the Difference Between Silk and Washable Silk?
Generally, washable silk is less sheer and more durable than regular silk. Also, the dying process is usually conducted after the garment has been constructed. This tends to make the colors richer, more profound, and ‘colorfast’ (meaning they won’t run).
If you tried to clean a traditional piece of silk in a machine, it would be absolutely ruined to the point of being unrecognizable.
Though our silk can be added to your machine to wash on the delicate setting, it’s always a great idea to include your pieces in a ‘delicates’ bag as well. This will reduce some of the stresses of the process.
Of course, you’ll want to air dry your pieces on padded hangers, and out of direct sunlight. Follow these tenets and your washable silk pieces from Eberyjey will serve to drape and look great on you for years to come.
What is Washable Silk Made of?
100% (Washable) Silk. Our silk fabric is also Bluesign®-Certified. This means it’s manufactured with the lowest possible impact on the environment.
A dream to wear and a simple to wash. Washable Silk is the smoothest fabric to join our luxurious silk sleep collection. Our silk has a momme grade of 16 and a fiber grade of 6A, which means it’s of a higher quality than most silk garments available.
Silk is a natural protein fiber, very similar to human hair, so it doesn’t need the same agitation, of say, a pair of jeans would need to get clean after a day in the garden.
This amazing fiber is harvested from the cocoons of the silkworm. These continuous threads can be pulled and wound at lengths of over a mile, with a tensile strength greater than steel.
That’s great, but it’s the feeling of the fabric and thermodynamic properties for the wearer that can’t be duplicated, though many have tried.
Silk really is a timeless, special fabric that even used to be used as currency — so invest in your pieces and take care of them well.
