Staying Comfy when Traveling

Staying Comfy when Traveling

As wonderful as visiting loved ones can be, traveling can be stressful and disruptive to healthy sleep patterns.

Comfortable loungewear and pajamas, however, can help you relax and sleep soundly when away from home — and a good night's rest makes every day of the vacation better.

Stress, Comfort, and Care

Sleeping away from home can be challenging due to a combination of psychological, neurological, and environmental factors that can disrupt our natural sleep patterns. The body's circadian rhythm, aka internal clock, regulates sleep and wake cycles. Changes in routine, time zone, and light exposure can affect your circadian rhythm.

When traveling, especially across time zones, the circadian rhythm can be disrupted, leading to jet lag. Even more frustrating, our brains are wired to remain alert in unfamiliar environments, making sleep even more challenging on each leg of the journey.1

Staying comfortable is an important part of reducing stress and helping you sleep better while traveling, which, in turn, supports self-care and wellness.

Dressing for Comfort

Avoid the temptation to repurpose pieces in your travel wardrobe. Different apparel is better suited for different occasions. For instance, the structured shirt and pants you wear to dinner might be too snug or scratchy for a post-meal wind-down or nap. Similarly, wearing tight clothing can make it challenging to relax on a long car ride or flight.

Fabrics also factor into the comfort equation. Acrylic, nylon, and polyester may not let your skin breathe the way it needs to for optimal health. Quality pajamas and comfy  loungewear, on the other hand, are loose and made of soft, breathable fabrics. And since we associate pajamas with rest, wearing them every evening — even on the road — can help you start winding down and destressing as soon as you put them on.2

Whether you prefer a sleeveless pullover or a buttery button-down top, comfy pajamas can encourage restful slumber. Knowing what style and material are right for you (and your travel destination) is important. For example, materials like TENCEL™ Modal, washable silk, and bamboo blends feel soft on the skin and promote breathability.3 TENCEL™and silks are good travel fabrics as they feel cool all year long.4

Eberjey's pajamas and loungewear are designed for comfort and do not use harmful chemicals, maximizing wellness. The true-fit, mid-low-rise Cozy Time Pant, for example, is made from TENCEL™ Modal and Elastane. The relaxed pants move with you while maintaining their flattering shape. The elastic waistband with a drawstring tie keeps the pants in place while providing adjustability for maximum comfort.

The Cozy Pant pairs well with the matching Cozy Time Mock Neck Pullover or Crew Neck Pullover for a blissful blend of style and comfort. The Inez Washable Silk Printed Long PJ Set features a relaxed long-sleeve button-up top with a notch collar and high-rise straight-leg pants with an elastic waistband. Both are made from 100 percent mulberry silk. The fabric is hypoallergenic and thermoregulating, making it suitable for year-round wear.

The versatile Recycled Sweater Loungewear is essential for cool days and nights, in or out. Wear the pants, cropped tank, and cardigan together for an effortlessly chic and cozy ensemble.

Packing and Styling Tips

To conserve space in your suitcase, roll clothes rather than fold them. A tight roll removes air pockets, while folding creates them, making the clothes bulkier in your bag. Rolling also reduces the likelihood of wrinkles, which can be a lifesaver when you don't have access to a fabric steamer or iron.

You don't have to sacrifice style for luggage space. Instead of selecting clothing in bold hues and vibrant patterns, stick to a neutral color scheme. Tones like charcoal gray, earthy brown, navy, and soft beige won’t fight for attention. You can mix and match your neutral pieces to create a fresh, new look each day of the trip. These colors also hide small spills and wrinkles well.3

Layering is also a great way to stay comfortable and stress-free when traveling. If the plane's air conditioning is too high or turbulence causes spills, a medium-weight sweater can provide both warmth and coverage over a fitted tank top or t-shirt.3

Matching sets make a look seem intentional rather than careless, and some classic

jewelry pieces elevate an ensemble.4

With Eberjey loungewear and sleepwear in your suitcase, your winter travels can be the start to a wonderful season and a happy new year.
