International Women’s Day: Behind the Brand
In 1996, the lingerie market was dominated by designs that catered more to the male eye than to the comfort and desires of the women wearing them. Enter Ali Mejia and Mariela Rovito, who sensed a gap in the sleepwear and lingerie market. They understood what women really craved: pieces that were not only beautiful and functional but also made them feel at home – soft, comfortable, and effortlessly themselves.
Nearly three decades later, Eberjey is still at the forefront, led by women who know exactly what women want. To celebrate International Women’s Day, we sat down with five female team members. They talk to us about what drives them, advice to their younger selves, their go-to PJ’s, and more.
Which women in your life inspire you the most?
“My mom was a trailblazer who balanced corporate success in the '80s and '90s while raising three kids. Then there's Kim, my mentor and former boss, who's led brands and shaped me into the leader I am today. And at Eberjey, surrounded by incredible women, I'm constantly inspired by our leadership's commitment to women in business.” – Ashley, CFO & COO

What career accomplishment are you most proud of?
“At the end of 2023, I received a promotion I had been working towards for a long time. I was so proud of myself that I not only reached a new level in my career and achieved new sales goals, but that I had also done so nine months after my youngest daughter was born.” – Jess, Associate Sales Director

If you could go back and give your younger self some advice, what would it be?

When things get busy and life gets overwhelming, what soft side rituals do you turn to?
"During a busy day, I’ll light my favorite scented candle at my desk, and the aroma is instantly soothing. At night, I love to cuddle up with my family in our PJs under a blanket, reading together or watching a movie. Now that my 6-year-old can read, she likes to pick the books before bed to read to us." – Jess, Associate Sales Director
“I cherish bedtime with my two girls every night. No matter what I have going on, I try to always have a bath and bedtime ritual with the girls that is very special to me. I also love going on runs and doing workouts–that’s when I feel my best.” – Ashley, CFO & COO

What’s your favorite Eberjey memory?
“I had been working at Eberjey less than six months and the company surprised me with a beautiful baby shower before my oldest daughter was born. There was lace, flowers, candles, and pink everywhere. I still have the video on my phone where I was completely shocked when I walked into the room!” – Jess, Associate Sales Director
